French Negation: ne...pas for Punjabi Speakers
ਸ਼ੁਰੂਆਤ
French ਵਿੱਚ negative ਬਣਾਉਣ ਲਈ English ਵਾਂਗ ਸਿਰਫ਼ “not” ਨਹੀਂ ਲਗਦਾ। ਆਮ pattern ਹੈ: ne + verb + pas। ਇਹ TEF/TCF listening ਵਿੱਚ ਵੀ trap ਹੈ, ਕਿਉਂਕਿ spoken French ਵਿੱਚ ਕਈ ਵਾਰ ne ਬਹੁਤ ਹੌਲੀ ਜਾਂ ਗਾਇਬ ਸੁਣਦਾ ਹੈ।

1. Basic formula
Formula:
Subject + ne + verb + pas + rest

2. ne → n’ before vowel
ਜਦੋਂ verb vowel sound ਨਾਲ ਸ਼ੁਰੂ ਹੁੰਦਾ ਹੈ, ne ਛੋਟਾ ਹੋ ਕੇ n’ ਬਣਦਾ ਹੈ।

Negative ਵਿੱਚ indefinite ਜਾਂ partitive article ਅਕਸਰ de ਬਣ ਜਾਂਦੇ ਹਨ।

4. Spoken French trap
Formal/clear French:
- Je ne sais pas. (I don’t know.)
Fast spoken French:
- Je sais pas. (I don’t know.)
Exam speaking ਵਿੱਚ clear version ਵਰਤੋ: Je ne sais pas। Listening ਵਿੱਚ ਦੋਵੇਂ ਪਛਾਣੋ।
5. Oui, non, si
