What this table tells you about venir

Aux

The past participle is venu, and it takes être in the passé composé — so it agrees with the subject: elle est venue, ils sont venus.

Stem

The futur simple is built on viendr-, which is not the infinitive venir. This stem has to be learned, and it is the same one the conditional uses later.

Sound

In the present, je, tu and il/elle are one sound: viens, vient — indistinguishable spoken. Only nous, vous and ils/elles carry an audible ending.

Easy win

The imparfait is built on the nous-present stem, so once you know venons you already know venais, venait and venaient. Futur proche keeps venir untouched.

Worth knowing about venir

Venir de + infinitive (e.g., 'Je viens de manger') forms the recent past meaning 'just did,' a construction so frequent in speech that distinguishing it from passé composé is essential for intermediate learners.

No form irregularities beyond those covered by the facts card.

Je viens de finir mes devoirs.

I just finished my homework.

ਮੈਂ ਹਾਲੇ ਆਪਣਾ ਹੋਮਵਰਕ ਮੁਕਾ ਦਿੱਤਾ।
